St Lazarus Ireland can trace its roots back to the ancient The Military & Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem, which traces its foundations to the 4th century.

For early 1000 years The Order of St Lazarus has been committed to ease the suffering of those who are afflicted with Leprosary and today this mission has extended to help in areas of Health, Education and Social Care both here in Ireland and round the Globe.

The Order is uniquely an Ecumenical Order of Chivalry, the 50th Grand Master of the Order is His Excellency, Francisco de Borbon Graf von Hardenberg. The Order’s Spiritual Protector is His Beatitude Youssef Absi. The Order was brought to Ireland in 1962 by Lord Dunsany. The Order is present in many other countries around the Globe and each year realises its ecumenical and chivalric aims by supporting inter-faith activities and by raising considerable funds for charities in Ireland and all over the world.
